Ken Knoechel is a licensed mental health therapist, a born-again Christian, a loving husband, and a trauma survivor. Ken received his undergrad from Liberty University where he studied Addictions. He went on to complete his graduate studies at Wright State University where he specialized in Chemical Dependency and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Ken spent six years working at Kettering Health’s psychiatric hospital in Dayton, OH where he also began working for the Ministry Care Line – a counseling service provided for pastors, teachers and conference workers of the Seventh-day Adventist church. He also works with ABIDE Network as a mental health coach. Ken feels that he has been called to help those who struggle to live a fulfilling life.
Ken was raised in a Christian home, but began wandering on a prodigal journey at the age of 16. In his early 20s, he grappled with the death of his mother who died from heart complications due to alcoholic cardiomyopathy. His sister also passed from a drug overdose. At 26 years old, Ken was in a car accident where the car flipped four times and he was ejected. He sustained multiple injuries that included three weeks in a coma, two strokes, and two brain injuries. This was rock bottom. Up to this point, his life choices had been based only on convenience and feeling. The rehabilitation that took place following the accident was not only physical and cognitive, but there was a spiritual rehabilitation he experienced as God was working to draw him back Him. Ken rekindled a faith in God that propelled a renewed passion for helping people cope with life.
Ken now specializes in helping people address issues related to anxiety, depression, addiction, and other mental health concerns. He is proficient in helping individuals develop effective behavioral and communication patterns. Ken also has a passion for working with couples to help them establish new relational norms that get them back on the same team.
Ken brings six years of clinical mental health experience with him into the coaching sessions where he approaches each client uniquely using interventions that are solution-focused and person-centered. Ken’s coaching styles include cognitive, behavioral, dialectical, psychodynamic, and emotionally focused.
Ken now lives in Chattanooga, TN where he offers teletherapy/coaching services. He and his wife enjoy traveling where they can engage a variety of cultural experiences. They both have a heart for all animals, but are most fond of their 3 cats – Remi, Mozzie, and Zella.
